There was unprofessionalism with some employees who did not know how to communicate well to our resident's family or even how to answer the phone. Medication was not given properly or withheld. Poor communication regarding anxieties or issues regarding level of dementia. Head nurse and manager lied as well as, sugar coated resident issues or did not tell the truth about resident interactions. Our particular room was not cleaned properly or often. Someoneiswatchingu Beautiful setting in the woods. I really liked the small setting and, as a result, much more intimate care between the residents. There's a lot of older than average residents and folks who needed more assistance, and it just looked much more like a hospital setting as a result of the bright light and the kind of institutional food. It doesn't help the presentation of the food. It's a nice, very homey atmosphere, but the fluorescent lights kind of killed the look of it. It would also would look better with some different lighting. It's a first-name basis with all of the residents, and they probably seem to know the residents better than any place else because of the ratio, and it's such a smaller unit. The staff was friendly, and they also have been there for a long time. Gar圓3 Windsor Oaks was probably the nicest and the best maintained. I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident I would recommend this facility to anyone who needed this type of care. One of the big plusses for my dad (dementia) was that they had the Memory Care unit where he could've been moved to, if it became necessary. We also loved the small size and homey atmosphere, as well as the delightful setting in the trees and nice big porches. I stop by to drop off magazines and many of those staff members are still there.

(yes, there's turnover, but many have been there several years). One of the things that most impressed us when we first visited to check it out was how long some of the employees had been there. The staff there were always friendly, pleasant, helpful, and caring.

She had been alone in their house, and it was great for her to have her meals fixed and room cleaned, participate in activities, plus take up bridge again and have people to socialize with. She was thriving there and passed away suddenly so didn't get to enjoy it nearly as long as we'd hoped. Beth Nicolaisen My father was in Discovery Commons for about 18 months and a few months after his passing, my mom was there for 4 1/2 months.
